Fire chief search to begin anew

The search for a new fire chief is on again in Eudora.

In a 3-2 vote Monday night the Eudora City Council rejected Mayor Tom Pyle’s nomination for the job. Pyle had wanted Kevin Ganoe, a firefighter, emergency medical technician and hazardous materials technician with the Divide, Colo., Fire Department.

Now the city will have to advertise for the position again and accept applications. A committee of fire chiefs from other Kansas towns will be chosen to go through the applications and select three candidates for the council to interview.

The city has been searching for a fire chief since Spencer McCabe was fired a year ago. Mike Underwood has been the acting fire chief since then.
