Police make pair of drug busts

Lawrence Police seized suspected LSD, marijuana and more than $8,600 in cash during the weekend in two related drug busts near the Kansas University campus.

Sgt. Dan Ward, a police spokesman, said the department was acting on information it received from the Lenexa Police Department’s drug unit.

The busts began about 2:15 a.m. Friday, when officers seized suspected marijuana and $600 cash from an apartment at 1117 Ky. Officers made contact with a 24-year-old man at the address, who gave them information that led to a second bust about 4:30 a.m. at 1011 Mo.

There, officers seized the suspected LSD, more suspected marijuana, a scale and $8,008 cash.

The 24-year-old man and a second suspect, a 21-year-old man who lives at the home on Missouri Street, had not been arrested as of Monday.

Police have forwarded a report to the District Attorney’s Office.
