Opportunities to help for holidays abound

The Roger Hill Volunteer Center has published its annual How to Help at the Holidays brochure. The brochure provides information on how volunteers may assist in different charitable organizations during the holiday season; adopt-a-family and adopt-a-child holiday programs; and how to volunteer or contribute to free holiday community meals. Immediate volunteer needs

¢ Lawrence Meals on Wheels seeks volunteer drivers to assist with meal delivery. The program provides hot nutritious meals to the homebound elderly and/or disabled residing in Lawrence. Positions are available each day of the week to pick up and deliver meals; delivery takes about 45 minutes. Volunteers must be 16 or older unless signing up with a parent. ¢ The Salvation Army seeks volunteers to assist during the holiday season. Volunteer assistance is needed for preparation and distribution of holiday meals, coordination and organization of the holiday “Toy Shop,” distribution of coats for the Share the Warmth program, as well as many other opportunities related to the holiday season. ¢ Lawrence Community Shelter seeks volunteers and art supply donations for a creative arts session conducted every Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Individuals from the community are encouraged to participate in the fun by joining in the art session or by making donations of arts and crafts supplies.
