Dole Institute accepting World War II photos

Kansas University’s Dole Institute of Politics seeks photos of Kansas World War II veterans to be included in a permanent collection at the institute.

The institute presently exhibits eight, 35-foot cloth panels, called the Memory Wall, that feature photos of more than 900 Kansas veterans, most in uniform. The photos plus thousands more are available in a searchable computer kiosk.

The institute has received more than 3,000 pictures of Kansas veterans since April 2003 when it first sought them for the institute, which was dedicated that summer.

To contribute a photo, send pictures of veterans and related information (hometown, service branch and whether the veteran attended KU) to 2350 Petefish Drive, Lawrence 66045. Pictures may be black and white or color and of any size. Please specify whether the photo is to be returned.

Digital photos may be sent via e-mail, preferably in jpeg format and as an attachment, to: doleinstitute@ku.edu.
