Area farmers to vote for FSA committee

Mail-in polls are open for a seat on the Douglas County Committee for the Farm Service Agency, which administers farm programs in the area.

Ballots will be accepted from farmers until Dec. 5 for the district representing southwest Douglas County, one of three seats on the committee.

The committee is looking for a successor to Mike Wintermantel, whose three-year term expires Jan. 1. Jane Edmonds has been nominated to replace him.

All farmers in the district are eligible to vote. The district stretches from the Shawnee County line to U.S. Highway 59, and from Stull Road to the Franklin County line.

Farmers with questions or who have not received a ballot may contact the Farm Service Agency office at 843-4260.
