Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen needs volunteers for its Community Thanksgiving Dinner, which will be served Thursday, Nov. 24, at First Christian Church, 10th and Kentucky streets. Volunteer drivers to deliver meals to the homebound are needed. LINK also needs volunteers to prepare food, serve and clean up. ¢ The Roger Hill Volunteer Center has published its annual How to Help at the Holidays brochure. The brochure provides information on how volunteers may assist in different charitable organizations during the holiday season, adopt-a-family and adopt-a-child holiday programs, and how to volunteer or contribute to free holiday community meals. The brochure is available by calling the Roger Hill Volunteer Center, 865-5030, or by e-mailing the Volunteer Center at info@rhvc.org. Include your name and mailing address in the text of the e-mail.

¢ The Salvation Army seeks volunteers to assist during the holiday season. Volunteer assistance is needed for preparation and distribution of holiday meals, coordination and organization of the holiday “Toy Shop,” distribution of coats for the Share the Warmth program, as well as many other opportunities related to the holiday season. ¢ Lawrence Habitat ReStore is looking for volunteers with any of the following experience categories: hardware, construction, remodeling, retail, cashiering, customer service, janitorial or heavy lifting. Volunteers will assist with the general operation of a building-supply thrift store in order to generate revenue for Lawrence Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization that builds homes in partnership with families in need. ¢ The Community Outreach Team at Unity Church of Lawrence invites community members to learn and discuss ways to positively contribute to the experience of individuals and families involved with the criminal justice system through a Project Connect event. In addition to discussion of community impact, the event will offer opportunities for community members to volunteer to assist individuals and families during and after incarceration. Project Connect will take place at Unity Church of Lawrence, 900 Madeline, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. ¢ Lawrence Community Shelter seeks volunteers and art supply donations for a creative arts session held every Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Individuals from the community are encouraged to participate in the fun by joining in the art session or by making donations of arts and crafts supplies.
