To the editor:

I would like to congratulate the other champions of the Lawrence Youth Football League. That being the Gorillas, Cougars, Baldwin Bulldogs, Twisters, Eudora Cardinals and the Chops. These young boys (and girls) are what real champions are made of. They may not be the fastest, biggest or strongest kids in the league, but they deserve all the same credit for their hard work, dedication and becoming the best “team” players that they can be. Also, thanks to the parents and siblings whose commitment and encouragement guide these great kids.

Finally, thanks to the coaches whose countless hours of thankless commitment teaching these kids not only fundamental football skills, but, more importantly, discipline and teamwork on and off the field. The above mentioned champions have also learned the most valuable lesson, which is not how to only win with class, but how to “lose” with class!
