KU Medical Center earns $5.5M grant

Kansas University Medical Center’s Polycystic Kidney Disease research program has successfully competed along with Harvard and Yale universities to win a five-year $5.5 million National Institutes of Health center grant. KUMC’s PKD research center has been funded continuously by the NIH for the past six years.

The grant will fund four major research projects to study cell proliferation in PKD and two pilot and feasibility projects intended to bring new investigators into the PKD field and assure long-term future research to benefit PKD patients.

PKD affects 600,000 Americans and an estimated 12.5 million people worldwide.
