Parks tribute

To the editor:

I watched people pass by Rosa Parks’ coffin to pay their last respects. I think this day in history should belong to Rosa Parks because she had the courage to help her people out of bondage.

I wonder what she would say if she could speak as she watched the president, representatives and senators pass by her coffin. Would she ask, “Where were you when my people needed help? Did you listen with deaf ears about all the unfair treatment to black and the underprivileged?”

The president announced he had chosen another Supreme Court justice candidate. The president could have waited another day to announce his decision. The best tribute he could have paid Rosa Parks for her bravery was to appoint a black woman as the new Supreme Court justice.
