Soldier’s funeral set for today

Funeral services will be today for Army Sgt. Evan Parker, the son of Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center instructor Danny Parker.

Evan Parker, 25, died last week at a hospital in Frankfurt, Germany, where he was flown after being wounded when a bomb exploded in his vehicle in Iraq. His parents and brother, a police officer in Baldwin, were with him when he died. He was awarded his second Purple Heart before he died.

KLETC, located in Hutchinson, is a unit of Kansas University Continuing Education.

Evan Parker’s funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at South Haven High School. He will be buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery in South Haven. A memorial fund has been established for the organization that houses Americans who travel to Europe to claim loved ones killed in the war.
