Probe continues in Lecompton homicide

A week and a half after a Lecompton man was found dead inside his home, police aren’t saying what happened to him.

Lt. Steve Brown, a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said the department was still actively investigating the death of 77-year-old David Boose. But the department won’t yet say how he died or who’s suspected of killing him. They say releasing that information could hurt the investigation.

Boose is the former owner of David’s Jewelry in Topeka. He was found dead April 29 at his rural home on North 2190 Road.

A family member has said police have asked them not to discuss what they know of the investigation.

4 Topekans arrested in pizza shop robbery

Lawrence Police have arrested four Topeka residents in connection with a robbery Monday night at Wheat State Pizza, 711 W. 23rd St.

The suspects range in age from 17 to 23. All were arrested and booked into jail early Tuesday morning, jail records show.

The robbery happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. Monday. The suspects stole money from the business and from a 23-year-old employee, according to a report.

Police said they made contact with the men shortly after the robbery during a traffic stop at Kansas Highway 10 and East 1200 Road. During a search of their vehicle, officers recovered a gun, money and clothing matching descriptions of the suspects, said Sgt. Dan Ward, a Lawrence Police spokesman.

Two of the suspects, ages 20 and 23, were arrested on conspiracy charges. Police believe the others, ages 17 and 19, were the only ones who entered the business.
