An apology

To the editor:

On behalf of Christians in Lawrence and beyond, I would like to apologize to homosexuals. I apologize for those who hate homosexuals. Yet, I also apologize for those who claim to love homosexuals and yet justify homosexual behavior saying it is acceptable to God. I especially apologize for those called ministers of Christ who deny that the Bible condemns homosexuality. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing.

The Bible is clear: “Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals … will inherit the kingdom of God” (I Corinthians 6:9). Scripture clearly warns us not to be deceived, so when a minister or another tells you that homosexual behavior is not sin, that person is deceiving you.

This section lists sins of such a nature that those who practice them can know that he or she will not enter heaven. This means that the deception on this issue is a horrible and eternal deception. God speaks to this issue with clarity. While some have the name of “Christian” and say this behavior is OK, I apologize to you for their deception. It is out of a concern for the eternal welfare of people that I am writing this. Do not be deceived by wolves in sheep’s clothing who call out peace, peace when there is no peace. The wickedness of calling evil good is not ignored by God.

Richard Smith,

Lawrence
