To the editor:
Your story on the $11 million fine assessed against Wal-Mart didn’t include an insightful detail I heard both from Peter Jennings on television and on the morning newscast of public radio.
That sum represents about 20 to 22 minutes of business for our friendly giant who “unknowingly” (right!) hires illegal aliens, works them seven days a week, denies them overtime and health benefits and locks them in at night!
These are our friendly neighbors? I suppose we should be grateful they don’t use manacles and chains!
