A sad irony
To the editor:
I find sad irony in the recent actions of Congress and our president in the signing of the “Terri Schiavo” legislation. These same politicians who have been decrying the “sanctity of marriage” for several years spent a recess Sunday evening working to tear down the marriage bond — or should I say the “rights and incidents of marriage” — that exist between Michael and Terri Schiavo. And, then they have the audacity to say that it is not about politics. Yeah, right. And intelligent design is not just another way of saying creationism, and the “marriage amendment movement” is not about conservative Christianity either. Sure, whatever you say.
