Lawrence Police said Monday that between Friday and Sunday they handled:

  • 824 calls
  • 78 reports
  • two burglaries
  • six thefts
  • 12 noninjury accidents
  • four injury accidents
  • Lawrence Police arrested a 19-year-old Lawrence man Sunday afternoon after someone reported seeing him trying to break in to the rear entrance of Quick Cash, 1401 W. Sixth St. He also was arrested for child abandonment after telling police he’d left a 17-month-old child at home, according to a report.
  • Police arrested a 31-year-old Lawrence man Saturday night after he used a knife during a fight at a residence the 2400 block of West 24th Street Terrace, according to a police report. A 20-year-old Lawrence man who lives at the address suffered a cut on his hand after stepping between the suspect and a 22-year-old Lawrence man who also lives at the address, according to a report.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A 23-year-old Lawrence woman reported her Buick sedan valued at $6,000 stolen between 5:50 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday from the 1500 block of West Fifth Street.
  • A 22-year-old Lawrence man reported $1,980 in property, including 125 compact discs and a subwoofer speaker, stolen between 10 p.m. Thursday and 7:45 a.m. Friday from his vehicle in the 300 block of Sharon Drive.

  • Local alarm system, malicious false alarm, 2:33 a.m. Sunday, 310 Hampton Court.
