KU seed in deeper limbo after loss

? The shot didn’t fall.

But the chances of Kansas University landing a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament did.

Kansas' Jeff Hawkins, left, buries his head and Alex Galindo watches from the bench as KU trails Oklahoma State late. Galindo later launched what would have been a tying three-pointer just before the final buzzer, but he missed it.

A last-second three-pointer by Alex Galindo bounced off the back of the rim Saturday against Oklahoma State, leaving KU with a 78-75 loss that knocked the team out of the Big 12 Tournament.

The loss puts KU’s seeding into further limbo for today’s NCAA tournament selection. The pairing announcement begins at 5 p.m. and can be seen on Sunflower Broadband Channels 5 and 13.

“As far as the seeding standpoint, you know, it’s really no telling,” senior forward Wayne Simien said. “You just have to wait and see (today).”

The loss to Oklahoma State was another thriller between the two teams, similar to a Feb. 28 matchup in which KU squeaked out an 81-79 win. Saturday’s game at Kemper Arena featured nine lead changes and five ties.

OSU advances to face Texas Tech at 2 p.m. today in the Big 12 final. Texas Tech reached the finals with a 69-63 victory over Oklahoma on Saturday.
