To the editor:

I would just like to say that, as someone who is a sports fanatic and who is a fan to the death of my college and professional teams, I was completely astonished at the behavior of a fellow sports fan, let alone an officer of the law. As true sports fans should know, signs and cheers are half the fun of games (provided they are not vulgar), regardless of whether you are the home or visiting team.

The young men who were assaulted by the Missouri “fan” Sunday have every right to file a complaint, because assault is what it was regardless of what title the fan had professionally.

Finally, just a personal note: If I were those kids I would put the contents of the poster on a shirt and wear it to the next KU vs. MU game.
