Murray’s attorneys finish defense

The defense rests.

Attorneys for Thomas E. Murray, a Kansas State University professor charged with killing his ex-wife, wrapped up the defense part of the murder trial this morning in Douglas County District Court.

Jurors will hear closing arguments on Monday from prosecutors and the defense attorneys and instructions from District Judge Robert Fairchild before beginning their deliberations.

Much of the testimony the jury heard this morning was from a forensic investigator hired by the defense.

Prosectors have been trying to convince the jury that Murray brutally stabbed and killed his ex-wife, Carmin D. Ross, in November 2003 in part because he didn’t want Ross to take their daughter to California.

This afternoon, attorneys for both sides were to review with Fairchild the instructions that jurors will receive.
