Crime
Police search for chase suspect
Area law enforcement agencies Wednesday night searched for a motorist who led a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper on a short pursuit on U.S. Highway 59 south of Lawrence.
The car, an early 1990s model Nissan Altima, was abandoned by its driver in a field in the Oakwood subdivision, Trooper Keith Hudson said. He said he tried to stop the car because it had a headlight out. The incident occurred about 7 p.m.
Douglas County Sheriff’s and Lawrence Police officers assisted in the search. The sheriff’s office brought out its search dog but was unable to find the suspect.
The car was registered to an owner in Olathe, said Hudson, who was trying to determine whether the car was stolen.

Physician investigated
Lawrence Police are investigating a 22-year-old Lawrence woman’s allegation that her male physician touched her inappropriately during an office visit. The alleged contact happened Feb. 19; it was reported March 1.
Police spokesman Sgt. Dan Ward would not identify the office where the alleged incident happened, but he said it happened at an office north of 15th Street.
