Smoking mess
To the editor:
I hope when the City Commission considers changes in the ordinance to allow for more outdoor areas for smoking in downtown they add some guidelines about the mess left by rude smokers and inconsiderate bar owners. One just has to walk downtown to realize that some smokers care as little for the environment or the appearance of downtown as they do for their own health or that of others.
Take a look at the street across from the historic Douglas County Courthouse or elsewhere along Massachusetts or east Eighth to see the mess left by thoughtless smokers and uncaring bar owners. Don’t continue to allow them to turn downtown into one large ashtray.
