Shame on Kline

To the editor:

Shame on you Atty. Gen. Phill Kline. It seems that you want women to be reclassified as chattel of the state; or, at the least, revictimize some women. You do not want to fight rape; you want to fight abortion. Be honest, at least, with yourself.

The crime is the impregnation of the underage girl, not the abortion that may follow. Contrary to your probable assumption, the impregnation was not caused by a “divine intelligence.” The impregnation was caused by the male production and deliverance of the sperm.

Public records exist to be used by your office. If the birth mother is under 16 years and nine months of age, then you have your rape charge. Or, are you saying that it is NOT rape if the fetus is carried full term to birth? Are you saying that it is only rape if an abortion occurred?

The system to help prosecute is already in place. It just has not been used for years. What you need to do is to tell the doctors and the schools that you are now going to prosecute underage sexual activity. They have not been reporting it because no one in your office has been prosecuting. If they have been reporting it and your office has not been prosecuting it; then, again, shame on you.
