Injury accidents

  • A 26-year-old Lawrence woman is in good condition after a motor vehicle accident near Linwood. The accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. Sunday on 222nd Street south of Kansas Highway 32.

According to the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Department, Dave L. Metz, 37, Lawrence, was traveling north on 222nd Street on a motorcycle. Kelly J. Quick, 21, Linwood, was traveling south on 222nd Street and began to turn east on Golden Road. Metz crashed into the rear of the vehicle as Quick was turning, according to the sheriff’s report.

Crystal G. Decker, a passenger on the motorcycle, was flown by air ambulance to Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Metz was taken by ambulance to the same hospital, where he was treated and released.

Metz and Decker weren’t wearing helmets, according to the sheriff’s accident report.
