Matter of values

To the editor:

We are in constant turmoil about what is best for our country. We send mixed messages to our youth.

Is it best to give them soda, candy and chips daily at school when our population is overweight, has diabetes and heart risks? Is it best to get revenue at the expense of our children’s health?

Abortion has killed more people than some wars. Is nine months of a girl’s life too much to give for a life of another who could be adopted out and given to loving people? Does it not build character in that young girl to say she didn’t run away but stood with her head high, so she doesn’t agonize for years to come about the life she ended? We tell young fathers not to run away from their responsibilities of parenthood.

We have a major drinking problem. Parents let them drink at home thinking at least you know where they are. But it doesn’t stop there.

KU is known as one of the best “party” colleges. The Women of KU calendar leaves a lot to be desired in its approach to respect. Drinking and football have somehow been tied together. Why?

Babies are produced by laboratories. Children always want to know who their biological parents are. With lab babies one may never know.

Values, given by God, made our country strong. Please don’t take God out.

Change in the name of progress and rights is not working. Our children will pay the price.

In God I trust.
