Cold, but sunny for city primary election

If you’re heading out to vote this morning in the Lawrence city commission primary election, grab your coat — temperatures and wind chills were well below freezing.

At 6:30 a.m., the temperature was 19, with a northwest 10-mph wind making the windchill 7 degrees.

“We’ll top out around 43 later this afternoon,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

Voters shouldn’t run into any wet weather today. Skies will be sunny this morning, with a few high clouds moving in during the afternoon, Schack said.

Overnight, the temperature will fall to a low of 19 by early Wednesday morning, with Wednesday’s high climbing to 47. Wednesday’s skies will be partly cloudy.

Thursday’s low will be 26, with the high reaching 51 under partly cloudy skies.
