Wrong for U.N.

To the editor:

His supporters have called John Bolton “blunt.” Others call him “confrontational” and “arrogant.” Either way, he’s not a diplomatic guy. Doesn’t it seem the first quality you want in a key diplomat is, by definition, that he be diplomatic ?

People who’ve worked under him make it clear Bolton doesn’t tolerate ideas that differ from his own. Doesn’t it seem an ambassador to the United Nations would, of all people, need to listen to differing ideas?

Bolton’s writings and speeches make clear his contempt for the United Nations. Doesn’t it seem an ambassador to the U.N. should go there to work with, rather than against, the organization he’s part of?

President Bush believes John Bolton is the right man to represent America at the United Nations. Is America arrogant, intolerant, and bent on destroying international cooperation?
