Political insanity
To the editor:
Being a member of a white Christian party I thought I’d make a few comments toward Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean. First of all, yes, I am white, and I am a born-again Christian. I am sorry if that offends you. Second, I make an honest living, as you have recently blanketed Republicans as being not honest in how they earn money.
The Republican Party is certainly not just a white party. In the 2004 election, President Bush received 44 percent of the Latino vote, 44 percent of the Asian vote, 11 percent of the African-American vote, and 40 percent of the vote from people of other races. So I hope that clears up things for you on that issue.
It saddens me that you must resort to name-calling, and have the political will to give Osama bin Laden a break, but make false allegations of guilt against members of Congress simply because you don’t like the party that opposes you. You are leading your party farther into the political wilderness. Lucky for our country that the Republicans are the party with an agenda, to improve Social Security, to finally have a national energy strategy, to put qualified men and women on the benches of our courts, to reform the abusive tax code, and to keep policies in place that brought our economy out of recession.
All you can do is throw names, and offer criticism, yet offer no alternative solutions or compromises. Sounds like political insanity to me. Keep up the good work?
Justin Smitley,
Lawrence
