To the editor:
Connie Morris on the Kansas State Board of Education? God help us! Whoever said evolution and religion are at odds with one another? This lady is no Bible scholar and a few bricks shy of a load educationally. The fast-expanding plague of fundamentalist, blind rhetoric in this country from Bush on down is scary. For many of them, the Earth is 5,000 years old! (The Egyptian civilization lasted 4,000 years, the Chinese even older). Where did Ms. Morris go to school anyway? Pray, indeed, for wide-open minds daring to explore, to learn, to be curious and for a learned State Board of Education. Ms. Morris’ letter (at taxpayer expense) is off the mark.
