Other paths
To the editor:
I would like to respond to the comments regarding summer classes online in last Sunday’s paper. I am 25 and just graduated from college. I had to find a different path to attain my goals. I worked a full-time job in high school and I was tired and late. Some high school kids have to work. Would you rather them drop out instead? Are you worried that an adolescent taking an online summer course will never figure life out? What kind of life are we talking about?
Not everyone wants to show up on time with a great attitude to work a thankless job for 50 years. Some people work to live, not live to work. Our communities need all sorts of different people that work irregular hours, and some professions allow you to make your own hours. I think every person deserves as many opportunities as possible to obtain their education and if online classes are the only way for them, then it is OK for this taxpayer, college graduate and mother of two.
