Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical reported the following responses:

¢ A fire in a basement was extinguished Wednesday night by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical at 2010 Riviera Court. Some family members who were home discovered smoke in the basement and managed to escape along with their three dogs, neighbors said.

The fire was reported shortly after 9 p.m. No other details were available.
