Legal fees

To the editor:

I sure hope that Dennis Steffes, owner of Coyotes and Last Call, shops in Lawrence. I believe that Mr. Steffes makes lots of money in Lawrence.

It now appears that he will cost the citizens of Lawrence even more in legal fees with his refusal to accept and live with an ordinance (the only flaw of which, apparently, is that it causes bar owners to fear lack of income) that was duly passed by our elected officials and reaffirmed in the last election.

I really hope that citizen Steffes shops in Lawrence.

Wait a minute, I voted in the last election. And I don't remember anything on the ballot about adult services. And just because somebody is an elected official does NOT mean that they speak for the majority of the people. Oftentimes they forward thier own personal agenda and leave the promises that they made to voters at the door.

As for the owner of these two establishments, it's his money, he's allowed to do with it as he pleases, providing it's legal.

Apparently Mr. Veerkamp prefers that Mr. Steffes lay down and submit to mob rule even when he feels his freedoms are being violated.
