To the editor:

Bravo to this young man for stepping up to the plate. It’s about time someone spoke out about this town’s sad show of patriotism. Lawrence wants to ban fireworks, but doesn’t want to offer a community celebration worth enjoying, and what I have seen in the past has been pathetic.

Banning personal use of fireworks makes sense, because there will always be idiots without common sense. But selling them so close to town also doesn’t make sense. So what message is Lawrence sending? Do not show patriotism on the Fourth of July? Let’s give a pseudo display? OR is Lawrence going to step up to the plate and offer a decent community fireworks display so we can share our pride in being true Americans?
