Eudorans’ support saves Parks & Rec official’s job

? A newly formed Eudora concerned citizens group is vowing to keep a close watch on their elected officials.

On Monday night, they let their voices be heard at the Eudora City Council meeting on a number of issues.

The group, which has yet to give its self an official name, spoke out in favor of retaining city Parks and Recreation Director Bobby Arnold. An unofficial petition containing 175 names was presented to the council after it became known that Mayor Tom Pyle wanted to appoint Michelle Miller in Arnold’s place.

Miller is currently the city pool manager.

The council, however, voted 3-2 against Pyle’s recommendation to appoint Miller and Arnold retains his job for another year.

Pyle said he was legally prevented from discussing why he wanted to replace Arnold.

The council did, however, vote 3-2 in favor of appointing Delbert Breithaupt as the new city superintendent. He replaces Jim Boyer.
