Less Legislature

To the editor:

As I read about the Republicans’ efforts to tie school funding to cutting back the court’s power, I realized the better solution might be to have a constitutional amendment to reform the House and Senate to a system like Nebraska’s. Let’s just have one group of elected officials. As the Legislature has proven, more is not always better. Maybe the Legislature could meet once every two years. The savings could fund the schools. Fewer elections, fewer people on the government payroll!

An added benefit could be with less time, they would have to deal only with real problems (like school funding) and be forced to stay out of places they don’t belong, which interestingly seems to be the only decisions they made this year.
