Falcons clip Firebirds
Olathe ? At least Free State High’s girls basketball team started and finished fast in Thursday’s 49-35 loss to Olathe South.
“It was close for about a quarter,” FSHS coach Bryan Duncan said. “They (the Falcons) were very good.”
The Firebirds only trailed 10-8 after eight minutes before being outscored 16-6 in the second quarter and 18-10 in the third. Free State (2-6) closed the game with an 11-5 fourth.
“We played well in our full-court pressure defense,” Duncan said. “They did a lot of the same things we did, they just did things better. They were a little bit better team.”
The Firebirds were led by Jamie Stanclift’s 11 points, while Jenna Brantley added eight.
Free State will take a break from Sunflower League play Tuesday to play host to Kansas City Wyandotte.
