Stop and help
To the editor:
Saturday, at about 4 p.m., I was traveling west on K-10 and witnessed an accident about midway between Kansas City and Lawrence. I was the first to stop and offer help and try to clear some of the debris in the highway.
The poor man that was in the wrong place at the wrong time was really shaken. He had a brand new pickup only one month old and it was gone. The car that caused the incident had an adult driver, several teens and a child. By the grace of God not a one was injured, although both vehicles were severely damaged.
Although some of the passersby offered assistance, the majority of the rest would not even have the courtesy to slow down, even after the deputy had arrived. This situation could have been turned into multiple deaths. Even 18-wheelers would not slow down. I was hit by flying debris that the speeding vehicles threw up from the ground.
Why is everyone in such a hurry?
Answer: Most people just don’t CARE!
