To the editor:
I wanted to weigh in as a downtown merchant who does not support this plan for virtually ear-tagging homeless people as reported in Saturday’s Journal-World. If any of the business owners advocating this ridiculous plan to further stigmatize homeless people have never been homeless, could they stop and think how they might want to be treated if they were, for whatever reason, to find themselves in that situation? Even Jesus described himself as homeless (foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head, Luke 9:58). The bottom line is that homeless people are people and they deserve compassion, not some stupid badge.
