Report on building code due

Lawrence City Commission Agenda highlights ¢ 6:35 p.m. Tuesday ¢ City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets ¢ Sunflower Broadband Channel 25 ¢ Meeting documents online at www.lawrenceks.org

Bottom line

Commissioners will receive a report on staff efforts to update the city’s building code.

Background

A Code Review Committee formed by the city in July 2003 has recommended that the city adopt a new set of building codes by the International Code Council. The international code would replace the Uniform Building Code that the city currently uses. City staff members said the codes needed to be reviewed because the organization that administered the Uniform Building Code would no longer be offering updates.
