Traditional values

To the editor:

I believe former state Sen. David Adkins is way off base on his prediction that society’s attitude toward the gay marriage issue will change over time (Journal-World, Feb. 21). He underestimates the will of the vast majority of Americans. As witnessed by the latest presidential election, Americans do not want to abandon traditional values.

Adkins also states that conservative extremists are targeting politicians who don’t support them on “wedge issues.” Quite frankly, there would not be “wedge issues” if radical liberal judges didn’t try to force them upon us. Thank God for these so-called extremists, which is a misnomer, who keep these liberals in check. Many of these extremists are parents like me who care about values in which children are raised.

Secondly, I would like to respond to the letter about Ann Coulter (J-W, Feb. 21). Very few conservatives speak out against the liberal progressive movement and its harm to America. Ann Coulter is one who does. She reveals their true agenda. Ann speaks without spin, while her detractors dissimulate their stance on issues. To say that Ann Coulter is an embarrassment to speak at KU is going against the very thing that liberals preach, First Amendment rights.

Speaking of liberals, how about Howard Dean? His ranting and raving after the Iowa caucus was classic. I wonder if the Dems will get to see some of that here. Lawrence may be a blue island in a sea of red, but I believe that blue has a little more red tint in it than what people think.
