To the editor:

I recently received a letter from the athletic department concerning ticket scalping at Kansas University basketball games. The letter stated that because so many people had complained about being harassed by scalpers they would no longer be allowed on university property.

I have walked to KU games for 26 years and have NEVER been harassed by scalpers. They simply ask if you need tickets and if you say no they are on to the next person. If you say yes then let the bargaining begin.

Could it be the athletic department doesn’t like the competition scalpers bring? KU has dramatically increased ticket prices “to the highest bidder” but doesn’t want anyone else to do the same thing.

It makes you wonder who the true scalpers are.
