Kansas City Singers to have auditions

The Kansas City Singers will have auditions for “Americana: Sea to Shining Sea” at 1 p.m. Saturday or concert performances in May.

Selected singers will perform in concert May 27-29 at Just Off Broadway Theater, 3051 Central, Kansas City, Mo., and participate in CD and video productions. All materials will be provided. Singers will be paid.

“Sea to Shining Sea” is the final concert in the Kansas City Singers’ Americana Series. Previous Americana concerts have been “In Perspective” and “Justice For All.”

The Kansas City Singers, Gold Cup winner at the 2004 International Choral Festival in Verona, Italy, is a 16-voice “a cappella” chorus.

Read Across Lawrence book discussion planned

The second discussion of Luci Tapahonso’s “Blue Horses Rush In,” the 2005 Read Across Lawrence book, will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lawrence Public Library.

The discussion, to be led by Kansas University English professor Bud Hirsch, is titled “Relationships and Community in Navajo Culture.”
