A ‘no’ vote

To the editor:

I will be voting against the gay marriage amendment for the following reasons:

1. My faith teaches loving kindness and acceptance of everyone.

2. I do not want my state to include discrimination in its constitution.

3. This issue reminds me of historical discrimination, like not allowing women to vote or own property and a ban on interracial marriage.

4. There is potential harm to children of gay parents by not allowing both parents to be legally recognized.

5. The amendment is being championed by Bible literalists who should not be forcing their religion into state politics.
