To the editor:
The Douglas County office of the Kansas Commission on Veteran Affairs was closed recently due to budget cuts. I know this office helped many of the thousands of local veterans with information and advice on their rights and benefits. I can personally say that they helped me.
With all the politicians in Washington and Topeka crowing about "Support Our Troops," I find this cut disappointing. If you want to help the service men and women serving our country more effectively than putting a bumper sticker on your vehicle, tell your state and federal representatives to support your program.
