Poor choice
To the editor:
Alberto Gonzales has shown a shocking propensity for distorting or ignoring U.S. laws and international treaties to produce the interpretations desired by his superiors. The result has been catastrophic damage to U.S. moral standing and prestige throughout the world. His positions on the use of torture and on the Geneva Conventions are only the best known. The list also includes guarding the Cheney energy-policy meetings from desirable public scrutiny and justifying some outrageous executions in Texas.
He should emphatically not be confirmed as attorney general.
