Kansas University to honor graduates

Two Kansas University graduates have been selected to receive the Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award.

Charley Oswald and Sara Paretsky will receive the College of Liberal Arts and Science award at a Dole Institute banquet in April. They will join recipients Sally S. Hoglund and David Hills, whose awards were announced earlier this month.

The award is the highest honor the college can give to alumni.

Paretsky, a 1967 political science graduate, helped create Sisters in Crime, a female mystery writers guild and advocacy group, and the Sara and Two C-Dogs foundation, which supports women in the arts.

She is also the namesake and sponsor of the Sara Paretsky Scholarship.

Oswald, a 1951 economics graduate, was chairman and chief executive officer of NCS Pearson, then Computer Systems Inc., from 1970 until 1994.

He founded the Oswald Scholars Program and has been associated with many KU programs.
