Revelers encouraged to call Tipsy Taxi
Here’s a number to write down if you plan to do some drinking while partying on New Year’s Eve: 842-TAXI (8294).
A free cab ride home will be available for the 22nd year in Lawrence, thanks to the Tipsy Taxi 2006 program sponsored by DCCCA. The service begins at 9 p.m. Saturday and ends at 3 a.m. Sunday.
Free rides in the Tipsy Taxi will be given only to those requesting the cab at the time of the call. Transportation will be provided only to Lawrence city addresses. All other trips will be billed according to Midwest Transportation rates. Patrons should be patient because there is usually a high demand for rides, organizers said.
This year DCCCA is partnering with Midwest and nearly 30 other businesses to sponsor the taxi.
