Suspect charged for sex with underage girls

A 32-year-old Baldwin man has been charged with having sex with three underage girls after plying them with alcohol, investigators said.

The man was arrested and booked into jail Wednesday evening and held on $100,000 bond. In a court hearing Thursday, Dist. Atty. Charles Branson’s office formally charged him with three counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

Prosecutors said the man had sex with each of the three victims, all ages 14 or 15, between June 1 and Oct. 1.

Baldwin Police Chief Mike McKenna said police began investigating after officers found the girls intoxicated at a local park. The officers asked the girls where they obtained the alcohol, and one of them pointed police to the man’s home, he said.

McKenna said the man had befriended the girls and the relationship eventually turned sexual.

The Journal-World generally does not identify suspects in sex crimes unless they have been convicted.
