Annual community Christmas dinner set

A Lawrence Christmas tradition will continue for the 12th year Sunday at First United Methodist Church, 946 Vt.

The free community holiday dinner is organized by Brower Burchill and his wife, Mary, with the help of numerous volunteers. This year’s dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature traditional holiday foods. Dinner also will be delivered to people who can’t make it to the church.

More than 30 turkeys and more than 20 hams will be cooked, Brower Burchill said. The food is donated, and the dinner usually serves an estimated 700 people, with about half of those meals being delivered, he said.

“I think we’ll have enough,” he said.

To request home delivery of a meal, call 841-1516 after 6 a.m. Sunday.
