Sunflower Broadband donates to schools

Sunflower Broadband is donating $6,140 to the Lawrence Schools Foundation, the proceeds from a “Sunflower for Schools” promotion conducted in November.

The Lawrence-based provider of digital cable, telephone and high-speed Internet service agreed to give the foundation $1 for every customer who added or upgraded telephone service during the month.

Patrick Knorr, Sunflower general manager, plans to present the check this morning to Susan Esau, the foundation’s executive director.

“We are truly a local company, and quality schools benefit everyone,” Knorr said.

Foundations for schools in other communities that Sunflower serves also are receiving donations through “Sunflower for Schools”: Eudora, $1,525; Basehor, $1,520; and Tonganoxie, $885.

Sunflower is a division of The World Company, which also owns the Journal-World. Sunflower serves customers in Lawrence, Eudora, Tonganoxie, Basehor and other parts of Leavenworth County.
