Shelter praise

To the editor:

My name is Ricky Edwards and I live here in Lawrence. I would like to let you know that the Lawrence Community Drop-In Center is helpful to society. The reason I say that they are helpful is because they helped me to get off the street. They helped me get to my appointments such as going to the doctor and the welfare office.

I would like to notify you that they feed the hungry in the mornings and they take their time out for everybody that comes in and needs assistance. They do more for the community than I have seen the community do for people. They are responsible in doing their job for the community such as getting the homeless off the street and home with their families. If it weren’t for the shelter, the city would be having more problems than what they currently are. The shelter is more helpful than many think it is. So everyone should take into consideration keeping the shelter open instead of closing it down.

Ricky Edwards,

Lawrence
