Sports complex to be considered

Lawrence City Commission agenda highlights ¢ 6:35 p.m. Tuesday ¢ City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets ¢ Sunflower Broadband Channel 25 ¢ Meeting documents online at www.lawrenceks.org

Bottom line

City commissioners will hear a proposal from former Lawrence Mayor Bonnie Lowe about investigating the need for a new first-class sports/recreation complex.

Background

Lowe is part of a group called Partners for Lawrence Athletics and Youth. She is hoping that the city, county, school district and other organizations will agree to fund a feasibility study to look at options for new recreational facilities in the community. County commissioners heard the proposal last week. They said they were interested but thought the city or the school district should take the lead in the project.
